Ministry To The World

An integral part of GFC's stated mission is "to welcome people of all nations to join in the joyful celebration of Jesus Christ, our King." We are committed to achieving this end through the means of active community outreach and support of global missions.

Community Outreach

The city of New York and, in particular, the borough of Queens, in which GFC has been planted, is renowned for its ethnic and cultural diversity. We seek to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to the nations, right here at home.

We are actively involved in reaching out to our community. Through face-to-face encounters with our neighbors, distribution of invitations to worship and other Biblical resources, summer Vacation Bible School (VBS) programs, sports tournaments, and other efforts, we have aimed to impact the world in which we have been sovereignly situated by God.

Missions

The Global Missions Committee is responsible for actualizing GFC’s participation and development in world evangelism. The Lord's commissioning orders to the Church make it imperative that we support a vigorous and balanced world-wide program of outreach. This includes directing missions education and awareness, mobilizing prayer for missions, enlisting, training, mobilizing, and sending members of Grace Fellowship Church, and others as God leads, for local outreach as well as for career and short term missionary service.

The commission to disciple the nations begins at the local church level and reaches to the uttermost part of the earth. As Acts 1:8 says, missions includes "both Jerusalem [Long Island City] and Judea [Queens] and Samaria [New York Metro] and to the uttermost part of the earth.

In 2006, GFC began to support Petrus and Chunghee Vercueil, missionaries to the Badjao people in the Philippines.

Petrus Vercueil was born in South Africa and had a desire from an early age to become a missionary. He began serving in the Philippines over 20 years ago. He and his wife, Chunghee, ministered in the Philippines, along with their three children, Johan, Tina, and Anna.

The Vercueils are working through SEED International and their ministry is called Badjao Tribal Mission. The Badjao people live on the coast and are mainly fisherman. They are also predominantly Muslim.

The Vercueils have built a church and school, done medical work, and started a farm project with the Badjao. However, in early 2005, a fire burned down the whole village along with the church and school. Petrus is working closely with the government to help relocate the village.

The Vercueils are currently on furlough in the United States.
