For the year 2009, I am encouraging everyone to live out a renewed commitment to the Lord and to his church here at GFC. As Pastor, my prayer for our church is that "GFC become a grace-filled community relevantly living and sharing the gospel of grace with the unchurched."
At the beginning of this New Year, I have asked GFC to reflect on Psalm 67 and 2 Corinthians 9:8 and to memorize these passages. Read more.
Though we want you to visit our church and meet Christians who love and worship Jesus, we realize that because of the brevity and uncertainty of life, we may never get to meet you. Our primary concern is that you understand who Jesus is and why He came to give his life for you. On Sunday, May 24, 2009, Pastor Davis shared with the church his passion and vision to return to the city of Philadelphia where he was raised and to join with his brother Steve in launching a church planting movement in that city. Over the next few months, Pastor Davis and the elders will work on the transition to new pastoral leadership, so as to ensure continuity with the mission and values of GFC. We ask for your prayers in this challenging time, in which we will depend on the Lord for His direction and provision, both for Grace Fellowship Church of Queens and what will be Grace Church of Philly. The message on May 24th, in which Pastor Davis talked about Christ as the church's only foundation, also contains his comments about his call to Philadelphia (beginning at about the 40-minute mark).
GFC will be having its annual summer retreat, from Thursday, July 2, to Saturday, July 4, at Nyack College, in Nyack, NY. Please join us for a great time of worship and fellowship.
The men's retreat, originally planned for Saturday, July 11, will be postponed until the fall.
